I hate the country I was born in. I hate, pretty much, everything about it. I hate it so much it keeps me awake at night. I hate the culture. I hate the people. I hate the arrogance. I hate the close-mindedness. I hate the red dirt and the big rock. I hate the lack of ozone layer and the power it has to burn. I hate the openness and how vast and spacious everything is here. I hate the accent. My accent. I hate that I have three options when I’m here; I can either be a rich stuck up snob, a pseudo-intellectual, or a car-enthusiast. Artists are frowned upon. Artists are disliked. Let them starve. Who needs art? We have offices. Who needs art? We have cubicles. Who needs art? We have shiny French trains and millions of blind mute people to fill them. I hate the attitude to art here.

I hate Australian Rules football, play a real sport. I hate cricket, give it back to England. I love Vegemite, but I hate how we make such a big deal about it. It’s our one unique product, and it isn’t even unique, anyone heard of Marmite? I hate how everyone wants to come to Australia because they think it’s nice here. It isn’t. This country was founded as a prison, and it remains one. A prison of the mind. I hate how the government runs the film industry, and they only fund stories about same-sex relationships. I have stories as well. I hate how third world nations that can't afford to keep their population clothed have larger film industries then here. Make sense of it. I hate how vegetarians are called unpatriotic here, why should my decision to eat meat have anything to do with my patriotism? Eat meat on Australia day? No. I hate how everyone laughs at the artist here. Get a real job.

I hate this country with a passion, and I’ll tell you why. I hate it, because deep down, it has the potential to be amazing. It has the potential to be Eden on Earth. But you’re fucking it up. You’re fucking it up for all of us. And before you tell me to ‘fuck off’ with that duck like quack of a voice, I would just like to say, I’m leaving. You can have the country. I can’t stand to see it fall to pieces the way it is. I’m leaving, and I’m really fucking happy about it. Take your fucking shitty red turf and keep your eyes closed to the beauty of the world and the reality of the soul. Keep moving backward, mechanical man, because I’m leaving.

In, like, 5 days. And I'm pretty excited about it.
